Always a bridesmaid . . . - My Looking-Glass Self

Nov. 22nd, 2006 10:46 am Always a bridesmaid . . .

So my best friend from high school, who I haven't spoken to since this past August, called me up last night and told me she had just gotten engaged and that she wanted me to be her maid of honor! As I love weddings I said yes, but I feel bad given how little I've seen of her recently. I've only even met her fiance once for god's sake! She's so excited though, that we've already been poring over online bridal catalogs to look at potential dresses. Tentatively, she'd like her bridesmaids in something like this (that color and style):

Given that my waist is nowhere near as small as this model's, I'm not sure if this would be a good match for me, but it looks like I'll be trying it on come Friday lol. I guess I should be happy that this is actually pretty and not one of those taffeta monstrosities I've heard so much about :)

While I'm excited for my friend, I have to say that too many people I know are getting married. I've already been in one wedding for a friend from high school, gone to another's, and know of several people who are engaged or married currently. I'm starting to feel like an old maid, and I'm not even close to being 25 yet!!! I keep reading about how people are getting married later and later in life given our longer lifespans and the fact that many women want to settle into careers first. Apparently, I don't know any of these women though lol! Pretty soon, I'll be the only single girl left in my group of friends!!! Sigh . . .

Current Location: My apartment - no class today!!!!

that dress is gorgeous! i like the tea-length bridesmaid dresses. in theory they're more re-wearable...i say in theory because i never do anything fancy enough to wear a formal dress, but hey...
